What does IVR stand for?

IVR is an acronym for Interactive Voice Response, which allows users to access the system of scripted voice responses that they can hear over their phone or dialer. Such a system can be used to get the account balance, or to log in as a user with the system.
A good example of using IVR would be a Calling Card scenario, where the customer calls a specific number; on connection he is greeted by a prerecorded voice, asked to enter his card number, thus being allowed to pick a number he wants to call.
